How to delegate access to your GoDaddy website to a consultant or vendor

Why

  • You need help managing your GoDaddy website hosting configuration, but you don’t want to share your password.

Definitions

  • When you delegate access, you give permission to another person to manage your GoDaddy website product. You should always delegate instead of sharing your password.

Instructions

  1. Go to https://account.godaddy.com/access and sign into your account.

Alternately, go to your Account Settings page and select Delegate Access on the left side menu of the page.

  2. Click Invite to Access.

  3. Enter the name and email address of your delegate.

  4. Select the access level of your delegate.

If your website is hosted by GoDaddy, then select Products & Domains because a GoDaddy website is a product. If your website is hosted elsewhere and you are using GoDaddy only for your domain, then Domains Only should be sufficient. You can change this level later. For more information on GoDaddy access, refer to Delegate access: Levels of permission | Account Management – GoDaddy Help US.

  5. Click the Invite button.

Your delegate will receive an email, and you will be notified when they accept. You can return to this page to change or revoke their access.

  6. Give them a user account on your website (optional)

Note that GoDaddy access is not the same as having a user account on your website. You may still need to setup a user account on your website for them. For example, if you are using WordPress, you still need to setup a user account for them to edit the WordPress settings.
